Palm Desert Man Killed In Crash At E. Palm Canyon Drive

George Lagoe, 81, was killed in the crash. A female passenger survived but sustained injuries.

An 81-year-old motorist was killed when his sedan went off a roadway near a Cathedral City intersection and slammed into a palm tree, the Riverside County Coroner's Office reported today.

George Lagoe, of Palm Desert, was not ejected, but died in the crash, which was reported at 7:35 p.m. Friday at East Palm Canyon Drive and West Buddy Rogers Avenue, the coroner's office reported.

Lagoe was driving east on East Palm Canyon Drive when he veered his vehicle off the roadway and crashed into the tree as he neared the intersection, Cathedral City police Sgt. Alberto Ruiz said.

Lagoe was pronounced dead at the scene but a female passenger was incoherent and taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Ruiz said.

Officers asked anyone with information about the fatal wreck to call the Cathedral City Police Department at (760) 770-0300. --City News Service
