Palm Desert Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

The man, whose name was withheld, lost control of his bike and was thrown onto a golf course, police said.

Police were working today to determine the cause of a motorcycle wreck in Cathedral City that killed a Palm Desert man.

The 44-year-old man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was killed around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle near East Palm Canyon Drive and Cree Road, Sgt. Scott Sharpe said.

"Police dispatch received a call about a motorcycle tipped over near Cree and East Palm Canyon with no rider around,'' he said. "(An) officer found the unoccupied motorcycle, which had been involved in a collision, sitting off the north side of the road.''

Police found the rider on the other side of a fence on a golf course. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Sharpe said.

Police determined the man was riding west on East Palm Canyon. It was unclear how fast he was going.
