A Palm Desert man was behind bars today on suspicion of stabbing a woman at the Rancho Mirage frozen yogurt shop where they both worked, inflicting non-life-threatening wounds.
Shimon Silberfenig, 55, was arrested about 6 p.m. Monday at Swirl Cup
Self Serve Yogurt in the 34100 block of Monterey Avenue on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities discovered that a female employee of the yogurt shop was
stabbed by a male employee around 5:50 p.m. She was transported to a local
hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff's Sgt. Andrew Nielsen
said.

The woman said Silberfenig "attacked her without provocation and
stabbed her several times,'' said Nielsen, who did not cite a motive for the
stabbing.
Silberfenig was being held at the county jail in Indio in lieu of
$25,000 bail and was expected to be arraigned Thursday at the Larson Justice
Center, according to jail records.
