Man Arrested After Crashing Twice Within Minutes

Two crashes, One DUI arrest, No injuries

After crashing his car twice within minutes, a Palm Desert man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Palm Desert Police say William Asmussen, 54, was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Country Club Drive and Cook Street at 10:00 p.m.    Minutes later, police responded to a second collision involving Asmussen at Washington Street and Hovely Lane.

Sgt Dave Eichelt said Asmussen stopped following the second crash after his vehicle was disabled.

Asmussen was arrested for driving under the influence and illegal possession of prescription drugs. No injuries were suffered in either collision.
