Palm Desert Motorcyclist Dies in Weekend Crash in Indian Wells

The crash was reported late Friday night at Highway 111 and Province Way.

A motorcyclist was killed when he and a vehicle collided in Indian Wells, shutting down traffic for six hours, a sergeant said this weekend.

Ricardo Sierra Gutierrez Jr., 21, of Palm Desert was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center following the crash Friday night and died of his injuries, the Riverside County Coroner's Office reported.

Dispatchers received a 911 call at 10:23 p.m. and sent firefighters to the corner of Highway 111 and Province Way. The circumstances on how the crash happened was not disclosed but Gutierrez was found on the ground and wasn't moving, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Radek Horkel said.

Highway 111 was shut down in both directions between Cook Street and Rancho Palmeras Drive for six hours as authorities investigated the scene, Horkel said.
