The Palm Desert Police Department has scheduled a DUI/Driver's License checkpoint from 9 p.m. Jan. 12 to 3 a.m. Jan. 13 at an undisclosed location in Palm Desert.
Officers will be checking drivers for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, officials said.
Officers will also check drivers for proper licensing. Anyone suspected of driving impaired could face jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000, officials said.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
