Palm Desert Police Plan DUI Crackdown This Friday, Saturday

The Palm Desert Police Department will hold DUI saturation patrols both Friday and Saturday nights in the city.

Palm Desert police will be out in full force this weekend to look for and arrest drunk drivers, officials announced.

"The Palm Desert Police Department's DUI Enforcement Team will be deploying this weekend to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers in the Department's ongoing traffic safety campaign," said sheriff's Sergeant Dave Adams.

The patrols will run Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2, between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. each night.

Though Adams didn't say where the Enforcement Team will be exactly, he did say they'll send out a saturation patrol in areas with "high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests."

Funding for the operation is provided via state and federal grants.
