Palm Desert Woman Arrested In Hit-And-Run Crash

The La Quinta Police Department thanked the people "who reported the reckless driving actions of the suspect in this case.''

A Palm Desert woman suspected of getting in a hit- and-run crash with two other vehicles while driving a stolen car under the influence was behind bars today.

Gianine Parker, 31, was arrested at a shopping center near Highway 111 and Town Center Way about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of vehicle theft, assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, sheriff's Sgt. Alan Northrup said.

Northrup said deputies had responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash near Dune Palms Road and Blackhawk Way in La Quinta.

"While investigating the collision, officers learned that a red Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from a nearby mobile home park,'' Northrup said.

The truck hit a Honda Civic, causing the car to spin and hit another vehicle. The driver of one of the cars was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released, Northrup said.

The Silverado headed west on Highway 111 into Palm Desert, and several people called sheriff's dispatch when they saw the speeding truck after the crash.

Palm Desert deputies located the Silverado and arrested Parker at a shopping center, Northrup said.

She was booked into the county jail in Indio.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Northrup said the La Quinta Police Department wanted to thank the people "who reported the reckless driving actions of the suspect in this case.''
