More than an hour after the assault was reported, deputies found Gonzalez in the 84-700 block of Avenue 52, where he allegedly attacked one deputy and tried to grab his gun, Munoz said.

Two other deputies then shot Gonzalez. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Back at the house, the first victim was taken to a hospital where she was treated for serious injuries and showed stable life signs. Deputies were not sure Sunday whether the second woman was seriously injured.

None of the children who had been inside the Avenue 52 home were hurt, Munoz said.

The deputies involved in the shooting were not injured, Munoz said, and have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the shootings.

Charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon will be sought against Gonzalez, Munoz said.
