Three teenagers were arrested for robbing a 34-year- old Rancho Mirage man in Palm Desert, a sheriff's lieutenant said Tuesday.

Julio Cesar Alvarado, 19, of Thousand Palms, was booked into county jail in Indio and is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, Lt. Jason Huskey said. The other two suspects, 16 and 17, also are from Thousand Palms, but their names were withheld because they are juveniles.

The victim was walking home from work just before 10 p.m. Monday when he was approached at Town Center Way and Fred Waring Drive by two young men, one who asked to use his cell phone, Huskey said.

"The suspects then simulated a weapon and demanded the victim's money," Huskey said, adding that the victim wasn't hurt.

A third young male also participated in the robbery, Huskey said. Deputies found three  suspects at Dinah Shore Drive and Monterey Avenue, and the victim identified them as the  robbers, Huskey said.
