Police Ask for Help in Tracking Down Missing Teen

Indio police have put out a request for help in finding a middle school girl who hasn't been seen since Friday.

A 14-year-old girl who was not at her Indio middle school when family members went to pick her up on Friday afternoon remained missing this morning, and detectives were seeking help from the public in locating her.

Investigators believe Guadalupe Garcia may gone willingly with a man in his early 20s, according to a statement from the Indio Police Department.

The teen was last seen Friday morning when she was dropped off near Jefferson Middle School at 83089 Highway 111, police said.

When a family member went to pick her up at the school Friday afternoon, she was not there, according to police.

Records show she did not attend school on Friday, according to the Desert Sun newspaper.

Garcia is Hispanic, 5 feet 1 inch tall, 129 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
