POLICE BLOTTER: Drunk Driving and Drunk Door Knocking

A review of reported crimes from August 8 to 14 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies

Tuesday, August 14 

12:47 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 111 and Portola Avenue. Hector Figueroa, 27, from Coachella, was arrested for DUI.

2:26 a.m.:  Officers responded to the 42000 block of Via Matina reference a male subject knocking on doors and removing his clothing. Karl Huffman, 44, from Bermuda Dunes, was arrested for public intoxication.

6:00 p.m.:  The Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted a pedestrian check at Washington Street and Country Club Drive. Steven Flores, 21, from Palm Desert, was arrested for a felony drug warrant.

6:08 p.m.: Officers responded to reference a theft. Eric Arroyo, 25, from Los Angeles, was arrested for shoplifting and a violation of parole.  

Monday, August 13

1:36 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 111 and San Marcos Avenue. Elizabeth Mullins, 24, from Palm Springs, was arrested for DUI.

10:23 a.m.: Officers responded to 72840 Hwy 111 () reference a theft. Israel Eduardo Perez, 33, from Cathedral City, was arrested for commercial burglary 

Sunday, August 12 

12:12 hours: Officers responded to regarding a theft. Betty Nash, 35, from Indio, was arrested for embezzlement.

2:47 p.m.:  Motor Officers responded to a on northbound Highway 111 at Town Center Way. Alexandria Taton Ulsh, 18, from La Quinta, was arrested for DUI after she collided with five vehicles stopped at a red traffic light.

7:21 p.m.:  Officers responded to reference a theft. Destiny Rivas, aka Fidelina Ermisenda Rivas, 45 from Coachella, was arrested for shoplifting. 

Saturday, August 11

1:15 a.m.: Officers responded to night club reference a disturbance. Aaron Bove, 37, from Carlsbad, was arrested for public intoxication.

Friday, August 10

7:00 a.m.: The Burglary Suppression Unit served a property related search warrant within the 75000 block of Via Domingo in Palm Desert. Sammuel Ortega, 46, from Thousand Palms was arrested for possession of stolen property. Jolie Ortega, 48, from Whitewater, was arrested for possession of narcotics without a prescription and methamphetamine.

9:07 a.m.: Officers responded to the 73000 block of San Nicholas Avenue reference a verbal argument. Alyssa Valenzuela, 19, from Beaumont, was arrested for domestic battery.

11:49 p.m.: Officers arrested John Phipps, 32, from Rancho Mirage, for public intoxication and delaying an investigation at Highway 111 and Plaza Way.

Thursday, August 9

No significant incidents reported.

Wednesday, August 8

7:45 p.m.:  Officers responded to a report of a in the intersection of Highway 111 and Deep Canyon Rd. Cynthia Ordonez, 36, from Santa Ana, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

9:50 p.m.: Officers conducted a pedestrian check within the 73-000 block of Royal Palm. Kenneth Snyder, 60, from Big Bear, was arrested for an outstanding felony narcotics warrant.

I see we have a big problem with Alcohol here in the desert.....with over 900 places to buy liqueur here in the Coachella Valley . I believe the feds should shut some of these outlets down because people are harming one another and dying in dui's and the check points are costing buku bucks!!
So what are we doing about this problem?

I'm still waiting with baited breath for some answers from Indian Wells on the drinking problems here in the valley

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
