POLICE BLOTTER: DUI, Car Fire and more

A review of reported crimes from September 19 to 25 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies

Tuesday, September 25 

8:48 a.m.:  Officers responded to the 74500 block of Hovely Lane for a previously reported domestic abuse call. The suspect fled on foot and a perimeter was established. Manuel Santillan, 31, from Palm Desert, was located and arrested for felony domestic battery and resisting arrest. 

Monday, September 24 

1:14 a.m.:  Officers responded to an industrial building located in the 42100 block of Beacon Hill regarding an alarm. Upon arrival, officers saw smoke emitting from the roof hatch. Cal Fire responded, forced entry into the building and discovered a vehicle was on fire in the interior parking bay. Cal Fire quickly extinguished the fire and determined it was caused by a faulty battery and was not suspicious in nature.  

2:05 a.m.:  Officers conducted a vehicle stop at Frank Sinatra Drive and Monterey Avenue. Rica Fennell, 34, from Palm Desert, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

6:05 a.m.: Officers responded to John's Restaurant to a check the welfare call. A male driver was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. Vincent Jackson, 43, from Moreno Valley, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Saturday, September 22

12:11 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on San Jose and Catalina Way. The female driver, a juvenile from Coachella, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

1:50 a.m.:  Officers responded to the 43000 block of Elkhorn Trail regarding a family disturbance. Marcos Machuca III, 32, from Indio, was arrested for public intoxication.

1:16 p.m.:  Officers responded to a shoplifting at Macy’s. Jacob Garczynski, 19, from La Quinta, was arrested for burglary and violation of probation.

9:15 p.m.:  Officers responded to Joe’s Sushi located at 72286 Fred Waring Drive. regarding a disturbance. Alberto Mora, 40, from Palm Desert and George Tello, 30, from Indio, were arrested for public intoxication. 

Friday, September 21 

1:10 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Sheryl Avenue and Cook Street. Shayne Hiemstra, 24, from Palm Desert, was arrested for possession of 3.5 grams of cocaine and violation of probation.

Thursday, September 20

No significant incidents reported. 

Wednesday, September 19

 3:58 p.m.:  Officers responded to J.C. Penney reference a theft. Damien Santos, 19, from Palm Springs, was arrested for shoplifting.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
