POLICE BLOTTER: DUIs and More

A review of reported crimes from July 4th to 10th from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies

Tuesday, July 10 

12:21 a.m.:  Officers responded to 74501 Avenue 42 regarding a vandalism call. Lenny Vargas, 28, from Palm Desert, was arrested for vandalism.

8:30 a.m.:  Officers responded to regarding a theft. Katrina Wennette, 32, and Alicia Pulliam, 35, both from Desert Hot Springs, were arrested for commercial burglary.

2:08 p.m.:   Officers conducted a pedestrian check at California Avenue and Avenue of the States. Justin Jackson, 27, from Whitewater, was arrested for public intoxication.

2:23 p.m.:   The Business District Team conducted a warrant service within the 74600 block of Leslie Court. Gustavo Hernandez, 43, from Palm Desert, was arrested on an outstanding domestic violence warrant.

2:27 p.m.:  Officers responded to the Taqueria Taco Shop at 73850 Hwy 111 reference an . A white or Hispanic male in his twenties brandished a handgun, taking an unknown amount of cash. The suspect jumped in an awaiting vehicle and fled the scene. The suspect was later .

2:29 p.m.:   Officers responded to reference a theft. The suspect entered the store and stole a video game. The suspect fled in a white Ford Escape. 

Monday, July 9 

6:15 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 73000 block of San Nicholas reference a disturbance. Alyssa Valenzuela, 18, from Beaumont, was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave the reporting parties apartment.

7:44 p.m.: Officers responded to the 72000 block of Beavertail Drive regarding an embezzled vehicle. Charity Zimmerle, 37, from Desert Hot Springs, was contacted inside the residence and was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and possession of heroin.

10:38 p.m:  Officers responded to reference a theft of cab services. Maria Blanco, 63, from Thousand Palms, was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper after she took a taxi cab across town with no money to pay for it. 

Sunday, July 8 

1:37 a.m.:  Officers conducted a vehicle stop at Highwayy 111 and Desert Drive. Lucas Cerecer, 29, from Palm Springs, was arrested for driving under the influence. 

Saturday, July 7 

5:37 p.m.:  Officers responded to reference two male subjects stealing watches. Alfonso Estrada, 29, and Luis Burgos, 20, both from of Indio, were arrested for possession of stolen property. 

Friday, July 6 

3:04 a.m.:   Officers responded to the Circle K at 44775 San Pablo reference an . A female juvenile brandished two kitchen knives and took a small amount of cash and some wine. At about 5:03 a.m., officers contacted a 14-year old Palm Desert juvenile who fit the description of the armed robbery. The cash was on her person and she directed deputies to a bush where she hid the knives and empty wine bottles. She was booked into the Juvenile Hall in Indio on armed robbery charges.

3:28 p.m.:   Officers responded to reference a theft. A 14-year old female from Desert Hot Springs was arrested for shoplifting. 

Thursday, July 5 

12:30 a.m.:   Officers responded to the Circle K at 78005 Country Club Drive reference an armed robbery. Robert Dominic Espinoza, age 19 of Palm Desert, was .

4:00 p.m.:   Officers responded to a single vehicle traffic collision at Highwayy 111 and Larkspur. Alfredo Marcos, 58, from Banning, was arrested for DUI. 

Wednesday, July 4 

3:14 a.m:  Officers conducted a vehicle stop at Washington Street and Hovley Lane East. Jennifer Polovic, 23, from La Quinta, was arrested for DUI.

2:25 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 77300 block of Indiana Avneue reference a stolen vehicle investigation. The victim’s 2011 Honda Accord was stolen and involved in a traffic collision on July 3rd. Charles Flores Jr., 47, from Palm Desert, was arrested for the vehicle theft.

8:55 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at Highway 111 and Fred Waring Drive. Jesus Avila, 24, from Mecca, was arrested for DUI.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
