POLICE BLOTTER: DUIs at AM/PM, and DUIs elsewhere

A review of reported crimes from October 10 to 16 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies

Tuesday, October 16

1:40 p.m:  Officers conducted a traffic stop at Washington Street and Palm Royale. Daniel Urrutia, 25, from Palm Desert, was arrested for miscellaneous traffic violations and delaying a peace officer.

Monday, October 15 

10:15 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Peppergrass Street and Lantana Avenue. John MacDougall, 41, from Palm Desert, was arrested for two outstanding felony narcotic and theft warrants. 

Sunday, October 14 

12:44 a.m.: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Hovley Gardens Apartments. Sean Driscoll, 39, from Indio, was arrested for felony vandalism.

4:12 p.m:  Officers responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic collision in the area of Portola Avenue and Chaparral Road. Robelo Barbosa-Cruz, 24, from Cathedral City was arrested for driving under the influence.

7:08 p.m.: Officers responded to the AM/PM, Portola Avenue at Highway 111, regarding a disturbance. Kenneth Oring, 71, from Palm Desert, was arrested for driving under the influence.

11:09 p.m.: Officers responded to a drunk driver reported on Highway 111. John Salyer, 64, from Rancho Mirage, was arrested for driving under the influence.

Saturday, October 13

1:49 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the AM/PM parking lot on Portola Avenue and Highway 111. Kyle Jackson, 22, from Cathedral City, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Friday, October 12 

1:19 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Monterey Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. Brandon Rivis, 30, from Cathedral City, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

4:49 p.m.: Officers responded to a shoplifter being detained at Macy's. Oscar Cesar Rodriguez, 31, from Indio, was arrested for commercial burglary and violation of probation.

6:17 p.m.:  Officers responded to the Westfield Shopping Mall reference a report of a man with a gun. Mall security reported several juveniles were causing a disturbance at the location and one juvenile was seen placing a handgun into his backpack. The 15 year old suspect from Indio, was arrested after officers located a loaded .22 caliber revolver and one air soft gun resembling a semi-automatic pistol in the backpack.

8:51 p.m.:  Officers responded to a disturbance at the One Quail Place apartments. Nam Troung, 21, from Palm Desert, was arrested for public intoxication. 

Thursday, October 11

12:15 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop on Gerald Ford Drive and Cook Street and arrested Gabriel Romo Jr., 23, from Palm Desert, for driving while intoxicated. 

Wednesday, October 10

4:41 p.m:  Officers responded to College of the Desert reference a report of a student on campus that had a felony warrant. Justin Scott Potter, 29, from Palm Desert, was arrested for an outstanding felony drug warrant.

8:43 p.m.:  Officers responded to the Oasis Club Apartments regarding an intoxicated subject. Stacey Gregg, 45, from Palm Desert, was arrested for public intoxication.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
