POLICE BLOTTER: DUIs, Meth Possession and Thefts

A review of reported crimes from May 30 to June 5 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies.

Tuesday, June 5 

10:17 a.m.: Officers conducted a pedestrian check at Country Club Drive and Washington Street. Michael Petty, 42, from Palm Springs, was arrested for an outstanding no-bail warrant and a parole hold. 

Monday, June 4 

3:54 a.m.:  Officers conducted a vehicle stop at Hwy 111 and San Pablo Avenue. Karla Hamilton, 31,from Palm Desert, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

2:02 p.m.: Officers responded to the 77900 block of Mountain View reference a domestic disturbance. Jerry Rowland, 20, from Palm Desert, was arrested for violation of a court order. 

7:04 p.m.: Officers responded to , at the mall, reference a theft. Devon Lang, 48, from Palm Springs, was arrested for shoplifting and a felony probation violation. 

Sunday, June 3 

1:36 a.m.:  Officers were clearing a non-related call within the 74300 block of Country Club Drive when they saw a woman slumped over while seated in a car. Julie Ghaboury, 39, from Palm Desert, was arrested for being under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 

2:21 a.m.:  While investigating an alcohol involved fatal traffic collision in Indian Wells, officers saw a van drive around the road closure signs and proceed westbound on Fred Waring Drive toward the crime scene. Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested John Joseph Meza, 58, from Cathedral City, for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

12:30 p.m.:  Officers arrested William Jeffries, 43, from Palm Springs, for an outstanding parolee at large warrant during a public intoxication investigation on El Paseo near Plaza Way. 

3:46 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 72000 block of Beavertail Street. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Kimberly White, 50, from Palm Desert, cut her boyfriend with a razor blade multiple times. A search of White's purse revealed a stolen check from a victim residing in Palm Desert. White was arrested for domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of stolen property. 

6:11 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 73000 block of San Gorgonio Way reference an intoxicated subject. Oscar Ayala, 41, from Palm Desert, was arrested for public intoxication. 

10:10 p.m.:  Officers responded to a call from the owner of a bike shop in Palm Desert. The caller was at Deep Canyon and Hwy 111 with a male subject on a bicycle. The caller recognized the bicycle as one he had sold to a customer, and was later stolen. Ian Milkie, 20, from Palm Desert, was arrested for possession of stolen property. 

Saturday, June 2 

1:49 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at Washington Street and Fred Waring Drive. Andrew John Smith, 40, from Indio, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

2:22 a.m.:  Officers responded to the 72600 block of Edgehill Drive reference a vandalism. Heather Wofford, 21, from Palm Desert, was arrested for vandalism after she broke a neighbor’s window. 

9:46 a.m.: Officers responded to the 44500 block of San Pasqual Avenue reference an in a residential swimming pool. Emergency medical personnel responded and treated the child who began breathing on her own. The child was transported to a local hospital for observation and was in stable condition. 

5:18 p.m.: Officers responded to the 43800 block of Carmel Circle in reference to . The fire originated in the garage and caused 70% of the residence to burn. Officers assisted in crowd control, evacuation and scene containment. 

11:35 p.m.: Officers responded to the at 72801 Highway 111 reference a man down. Greg Kossak, 43, from Orange, was arrested for public intoxication. 

Friday, June 1 

12:35 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at Fred Waring drive and San Pasqual Avenue. Nicole Shertrone, 38, from of Palm Desert, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, violation of probation and committing a felony while out on bail. 

12:36 a.m.:  The Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted a probation search within the 74100 block of Primrose Drive. Robert Turner, 43, from Palm Desert, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. 

12:45 p.m.:  Officers contacted Marcus Brock, 49, from Palm Desert within the 77800 block of California Avenue. Brock was arrested for an outstanding narcotic warrant. 

8:21 p.m.:  Officers conducted a bicycle stop at Warner Trail and Wyoming Avenue and arrested a 15-year old male on a no-bail theft warrant. 

9:43 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 200 block of Tava reference a domestic disturbance. Jose Rivera, 33, from Palm Desert, was arrested for spousal abuse. 

Thursday, May 31 

12:00 p.m.:  Officers conducted a pedestrian check in front of the at Highway 111 and Plaza Way. Alicia Fuentes, 33, from Palm Desert, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for burglary and possession of burglary tools. 

3:59 p.m.:  Officers responded to 77777 Country Club Drive reference a disturbance involving several juveniles. One of the juvenile's parents arrived and interfered with deputies. Frederick Ige, 39, from Palm Desert, was arrested for obstructing/delaying a peace officer. 

6:53 p.m.:   Officers responded to the 77700 block of Malone Circle reference a violation of a restraining order. Carol Watts, a 31-year old transient, was arrested for a violation of a restraining order and two outstanding warrants for the same. 

Wednesday, May 30 

5:50 p.m.: Officers responded to 77-777 Country Club reference a domestic disturbance. Joshua Johnson, 33, from Palm Desert, was arrested for domestic battery. 

6:00 p.m.: Traffic Officers responded to a minor injury in the 74-000 block of Leslie Avenue. Vincent Leroy Grant, 27, from Palm Desert, lost control of his off-road motorcycle and collided with a parked car. Grant sustained minor injuries and was arrested for DUI.

6:56 p.m.:  Officers responded to the at 72845 Highway 111 regarding a theft. Richard Lee Stroud, a 50-year old transient, was arrested for shoplifting.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
