Police Blotter For May 12-15

A review of reported crimes from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff's deputies.

Here is the blotter for May 12-15:

Sunday, May 15

5:30 p.m.: Officers saw a suspicious object in an open field near the fire station on Country Club Drive and Portola Avenue. Upon closer inspection, the object looked suspiciously like a possible explosive device. Additional officers sealed off the open field to preserve public safety, and the Hazardous Device Team responded. The team members used remote techniques to inspect the device and determined the object was not hazardous then removed the item from the field.

Saturday, May 14

4:29 p.m.: Officers responded to the 77900 block of Dudley Drive to conduct a welfare check. John Rodriguez, 44, of Palm Desert was arrested for violating a domestic violence restraining order.

10:30 p.m.: Officers responded to the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Fred Waring Drive in reference to a male subject sitting in the middle of the intersection impeding the flow of traffic. Officers arrested Douglas Harrington, 52, a transient of Palm Desert for public intoxication.

Friday, May 13

3:05 a.m.: Officers arrested Paloma Gonzalez, 25, of Palm Desert for assault with a deadly weapon, at the 73000 Block of Joshua Tree Street.

3:12 p.m.: Officers arrested Burl J. C. Gheris, 28, of Palm Desert for possession of cocaine base, at the 73000 block of Alessandro Drive.

5:22 p.m.: Officers arrested Fred Bambush, 47, of Palm Desert for public intoxication in the area of Washington Street and Harris.

Thursday, May 12

7:59 a.m.: Officers arrested Zachary Hermann, 23, of Palm Desert for domestic battery at the 73000 block of Santa Rosa Way.
