POLICE BLOTTER: Garage Robberies and Carjacking

A review of reported crimes by the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff's deputies.

Tuesday, March 27 

9:00 a.m.: Officers arrested Robert West, 29, from Palm Desert, on the 74-000 block of Candlewood St. for felony vandalism and a violation of domestic violence court order

9:35 a.m: Officers arrested Jordan Elkins, 24, from Palm Desert, on an outstanding felony narcotics warrant at Alessandro and San Juan Ave.

11:05 a.m.: Officers responded to a robbery within the 73000 block of Highway 111. The suspects, two male juveniles, forcefully stole the victim’s vehicle and drove away. The 64 year old female victim ran into a nearby bank to request assistance. A witness, who following the suspects, was intentionally rammed by the stolen vehicle. The suspects then collided with a parked vehicle and fled on foot. Officers located both suspects in the backyard of a residence within the 44000 block of Erie Court in Indian Wells. The juveniles, both of Mexicali, were arrested for robbery, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, hit and run and conspiracy.

10:09 p.m.: Officers arrested Stephen Fields, 28, from Palm Desert, for driving under the influence and hit and run after responding to a hit & run traffic collision at Hwy 111 and Monterey.

Monday, March 26 

4:27 a.m.: Officers arrested Stacy Murray, 31, from Palm Desert, for domestic battery within the 72000 block of Tampico. 

6:43 p.m.: Palm Desert and Thermal Station Investigations, along with Palm Desert Burglary Suppression and Special Enforcement Teams, arrested Daniel Leos Jr., age 31 of Indio, for multiple counts of armed robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.The arrest was based on the investigation of several robberies in Palm Desert. The suspect was located at Avenue 43 and Golf Center Pkwy in Indio. 

Sunday, March 25 

1:44 a.m.: Officers arrested Timothy Flores, 43, from Palm Desert, for driving under the influence at Fred Waring and Eldorado after he failed to stop for two red signal lights. 

11:29 p.m.: Officers responded to a call referring to a male attempting to siphon gasoline on the 40000 block of Sandy Gale. Blaine Donald Sniffin, 41, from Yucca Valley, was arrested for petty theft at the Mobil station on Washington Street. 

Saturday, March 24 

12:38 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Washington St. and Hovely Lane. Veronica Lopez, age 35 of La Quinta, was arrested for Driving under the influence and child endangerment. 

Friday, March 23 

1:10 a.m.: Officers conducted a pedestrian check at Hwy 111 and San Luis Rey. Alicia Fuentes, 33, from Rancho Mirage, was arrested on a felony burglary warrant. 

9:50 p.m.: The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Investigations Unit, The Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit and the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team completed follow-up on three robbery cases from earlier this week. Two search warrants were served in the 33200 and the 32700 blocks of Sky Blue Water Trail in Cathedral City. 

John Paul Munoz, age 38 of Cathedral City, was arrested for burglary, conspiracy, credit card fraud, violation of probation, and committing a felony while out on bail.

Juan Reyes, age 37 of Desert Hot Springs and George Blackstone, age 32 of Indio, were both arrested for burglary, conspiracy, credit card fraud, and violation of probation. 

9:50 p.m.: Traffic Officers responded to an injury traffic collision on California east of Warner Trail. An eastbound vehicle driven by Ben Scott Murphy, 34, from Cathedral City, collided with three parked cars. Murphy sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Murphy was arrested for DUI, possession of brass knuckles and possession of a belt buckle knife. 

Thursday, March 22 

9:00 a.m.: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Circle K on San Pablo and San Gorgonio. Raymond Seawright, 54, from Thousand Palms, was upset the clerk would not sell him beer. Seawright was arrested for public intoxication. 

6:12 p.m.: Officers responded to the Target store reference a theft. Lydia Ruiz, 28, from Indio, was arrested for commercial burglary. 

Wednesday, March 21 

4:50 p.m.: Traffic Officers responded to a non-injury collision within the 41800 block of Boardwalk. A vehicle collided into a building causing large windows to shatter. No structural damage was found. Alcohol was not a factor. 

8:09 p.m.: Officers responded to an armed robbery that occurred within the 74100 block of Fairway Dr. A Hispanic male adult in his twenties used a semi-automatic handgun to take money and cell phone from the victim. The suspect fled on foot. 

9:05 p.m.:  Officers responded to an armed robbery that occurred within the 46000 block of Verba Santa. A Hispanic male adult, matching the description in the Fairway incident, used a semi-automatic handgun to take the victims money and cell phone. The suspect fled on foot. 

Tuesday, March 20 

No significant reports. 

Monday, March 19 

10:14 p.m.:  Officers responded to a armed robbery call in the 42-000 block of Hastings St. The suspect approached the victim as he worked inside his garage. The suspect produced a small handgun and demanded the victim's wallet and I-phone. The suspect then ran southbound from location. 

11:37 p.m.: Officers arrested William Jefferies, 43, from Palm Desert, for criminal threats, public intoxication and violation of parole at Highway 111 and Plaza.
