POLICE BLOTTER: High School Drugs, Bus Fire, DUI Arrests

A review of reported crimes from April 24 to May 1 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff's deputies.

Tuesday, May 1

11:48 a.m.: Officers arrested four students for drug related charges. One student was arrested for selling or furnishing Vicodin and possession of marijuana. A second student was arrested for possession of Vicodin and possession of marijuana. A third student was arrested for selling or furnishing Vicodin.

3:00p.m.:  Officers responded to reference a theft. Molly Hill, 29,, from Palm Desert, was arrested for commercial burglary, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

11:54 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 44300 block of San Pablo Ave. reference a domestic violence call. Jamii Ann Hatfield, 30, from Palm Desert, was arrested for domestic violence.

Sunday, April 29

2:00 a.m.: Traffic officers conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint at Monterey Ave and Magnesia Falls. The checkpoint ran from 7:00 p.m. on Saturday to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. A total of 829 cars passed through the checkpoint, with 699 of these cars being screened. Francisco Rodriguez, 38 from Palm Desert, Harry Mahleres, 63, from Aurora CO, Thomas Lucero, 31, from Palm Desert and Christina Livingston, 43, from Palm Desert were all arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs. Additionally, four drivers were arrested for driving while unlicensed or suspended and seven vehicles were impounded.

9:55 a.m.: Officers arrested Andrew Anzalone, 47, from Palm Desert, for public intoxication at Alessandro Lane and San Pablo Avenue.

Saturday, April 28

1:14 a.m.:  Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the parking lot. Vithoun Arounsy, 30 from Banning, was arrested for driving under the influence.

1:15 a.m.:  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Monterey Avenue and Country Club Drive. Eduardo Luis Espinoza, 23, from Indio, was arrested for driving under the influence.

2:00 a.m.:  Officers responded to regarding an intoxicated female. Elizabeth Jane Montgomery, 18, from Palm Springs, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

3:28 p.m.:  Officers arrested John Witt, 26, from San Pedro, for battery at the .

6:41 p.m.: Officers conducted a pedestrian check at 44635 San Carlos and arrested Anthony Flores, 43, from La Quinta, for a felony narcotic warrant.

10:33 p.m.: Officers arrested Francisco Rodriguez, 38, from Palm Desert, for driving under the influence at Monterey Avenue and Magnesia Falls Drive.

Friday, April 27

4:55 p.m. – Officers responded to the 73200 block of El Paseo reference a domestic disturbance. Edward Albert Redway, 52, from Bermuda Dunes, was arrested for domestic battery.

5:46 p.m.:  Officers responded to Cook Street and Hovley Lane for a private charter bus on fire. The bus caught fire in transit and pulled to the side of the road. The driver and sole occupant escaped uninjured. The bus was part of the shuttle service for the Stagecoach Music Festival.

8:45 p.m.:  Officers responded to at 74590 Highway 111. Steven Haynie, 52, from Palm Springs, was arrested for commercial burglary.

Thursday, April 26

6:16 p.m.: Officers responded to reference a theft. Ha Nguyen, 53, from Ontario, was arrested on two counts of commercial burglary.

Wednesday, April 25
