POLICE BLOTTER: Hit-and-Run, Drug Sales

A review of reported crimes from September 5 to 11 from the Palm Desert Police Department, which is staffed by sheriff’s deputies

Tuesday, September 11

 12:30 p.m.:  Officers responded to a hit and run traffic collision on Hovley Lane East and Carlotta Drive. The driver was seen entering the backyard of a house on Easy Street. The driver was found inside a house during a door-to-door search. Earl Houser, 48, from Palm Desert, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Hit and Run.

12:59 p.m.:  Officers served an arrest warrant within the 73-000 block of Ironwood Street. Mark Caldwell, 54, from Palm Desert, was arrested on an outstanding felony theft warrant. 

Monday, September 10 

7:38 p.m.:   Officers responded to a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Deep Canyon north of Fred Waring Dr. The officers determined a white, early 2000 model two-door compact car, struck the pedestrian who was walking in the roadway of Deep Canyon Rd. The vehicle struck the pedestrian then failed to stop at the scene of the accident. The pedestrian was treated for his injuries. 

Sunday, September 9 

5:30 p.m.:   Officers conducted an arrest warrant service within the 73-000 block of Woodward Dr. Alan Thueson, 55, from Palm Desert, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.

6:50 p.m.:   Officers witnessed a hand-to-hand drug transaction at San Pasqual Avenue and Catalina Way. A vehicle stop was conducted and two suspects were arrested. The vehicle was previously reported as stolen. Shane Wynn, 18, from Palm Desert and Michael Booze, 29, from Maryland, were arrested for possession of the stolen car and marijuana for sales.

Saturday, September 8

12:45 a.m.:   Officers responded to a domestic disturbance within the 42-000 block of Desert Eagle. Jose Barajas, 35, from Palm Desert, was arrested for misdemeanor spousal abuse. 

Friday, September 7 

10:50 a.m.: The Burglary Suppression Unit responded to the 43100 block of Buttonwood Drive reference an on-going investigation. Morgan Sanders, 21, from Palm Desert, was arrested for commercial burglary.

10:32 p.m.: Officers responded to a call of domestic violence within the 40900 block Avenida Estrada. Robin Lee Shupe, 53, from Palm Desert, was arrested for spousal abuse.

11:30 p.m.:   Officers conducted a pedestrian check at Portola Avenue and El Paseo. Shane Brandon, 36, from Palm Desert, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Brandon also had an outstanding felony warrant. 

Thursday, September 6

4:06 p.m.:   Officers responded to the AM/PM Convenience Store at 73980 Highway 111 reference an armed robbery. Two male adults entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspects fled the area on foot with money taken from the register and no vehicle was observed.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
