Police: Burglars Ram SUV Into El Paseo Shop, Steal Luxury Items

The Palm Desert Police Department is investigating the crime at the Bottega Veneta store on El Paseo.

Police were looking Wednesday for the person or people who used an SUV to break into a luxury shop on El Paseo, officials said.

The break-in happened early Tuesday morning at the Bottega Veneta Store located at 73061 El Paseo, according to sheriff's Sergeant Dave Smith.

According to Smith, the burglar or burglars slammed into the store's glass doors by backing a Jeep into its entrance, and stole "numerous items" once inside.

"The investigation revealed that a dark-colored 2007-2014 Jeep Patriot SUV was used to smash through the front doors," Smith said, adding that the vehicle police are looking for should have collision damage to the rear bumper and taillights.

The SUV— along with the suspect(s) and high-end merchandise from the store— were gone by the time police got to the scene, according to Smith.
