Police: Hammer-Wielding Man Busts Into Cathedral City Home, Threatens to Kill Sister
A Palm Springs man was sought Wednesday for allegedly threatening to kill his sister and attacking her husband with a hammer, then fleeing in the couple's car.
The assault was reported at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday on Lagos Court, inside the Desert Princess Country Club on Vista Chino in Cathedral City. Lee James McGrail, 44, allegedly forced his way into his 51-year-old sister's home and confronted her with a hammer, Cathedral City police Capt. Chuck Robinson said.
"He threatened to kill her, then assaulted her 62-year-old husband, striking him with the hammer," Robinson alleged.

The suspect's brother-in-law suffered head injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and was listed in serious condition, Robinson said.
A motive for the attack was not disclosed.

McGrail is described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 280 to 300 pounds, with brown hair, green eyes and a goatee. He is believed to be driving a 2012 white Toyota Camry, California license plate 6XTE000.
Anyone with information on McGrail's whereabouts was asked to call 911 or (760) 770-0303, and should not attempt to approach him, Robinson said.
