Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Death of Teen Bicyclist in Desert Hot Springs

A bicyclist was struck by a pickup Thursday evening in Desert Hot Springs, he died of his injuries, and the truck driver left the scene, according to the coroner.

The incident was reported 5:35 p.m. Jan. 9 at West Drive and West Arroyo Drive, coroner's personnel said in a statement.

The bicyclist was identified as Reuben Guzman, 16, of Desert Hot Springs, who "veered into traffic and was struck by a pick-up truck. Pick-up truck fled the scene," coroner's personnel said.

Guzman was pronounced deceased at 11:05 p.m. Thursday at Desert Regional Medical Center, coroner's personnel said.
