Police Make 80 Arrests at Coachella Weekend One, 'No Significant Issues'

A total of 80 arrests were made at the first of two Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival weekends in Indio, police reported Monday.

Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron said most of the weekend's arrests were drug- and alcohol-related.

"We didn't have any significant issues," he said.

On Friday, 23 arrests were reported, followed by 30 on Saturday and 27 on Sunday.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival attracts tens of thousands of people. The festival's second installment is next weekend -- with the same lineup -- followed by the Stagecoach country music festival April 25-27.

The stars were out at this weekend's sun-baked festival. Justin Bieber, making an unscheduled stop, performed with Chance the Rapper. Gwen Stefani also made an unexpected appearance.

Other celebrities photographed at Coachella included Beyonce, husband Jay Z, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Joe Jonas, Lindsay Lohan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto.
