Police Seek La Quinta Carjacking Suspect Who Took Woman's Mercedes

The overnight incident happened in the area of Adams Street and Avenue 48 in La Quinta, police reported Friday.

Police were seeking the public's help Friday in tracking down a carjacking suspect who drove off in a woman's Mercedes late Thursday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. in the 47700 block of Adams Street, at Avenue 48, according to sheriff's Sergeant Ben Ramirez.

The woman was giving a man a ride who had just helped her change a flat tire, when she "decided not to give him a ride anymore," sheriff's Corporal Angel Ramos explained to Patch.

At that point, the woman pulled over to let the man out, but he instead took off in her car, according to officials.

"It looks like he got angry for some reason and knocked her to the ground and took off," Ramos said.

"The male passenger got in the driver's seat and struck with victim with the driver's door," Ramirez said.

The woman was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The suspect, described as as a Hispanic male, 5'-06" tall, 140 lbs., was last seen wearing a turquoise shirt and blue jeans.  The vehicle is described as a 2002 silver Mercedes ML320 SUV, with California license plate: 4YKB190.

If you spot either the vehicle or suspect, you're asked to contact the Thermal Sheriff's Station at 760-863-8990.

Warning to ALL Coachella Valley Residents! Beware of "Hispanics". They by all account KESQ, KMIR, Desert Sun, Radio etc. "Hispanics" are responsible for approximately 90% of Felony Crime. Just track the last names of all suspects and/or convicted parties and more than likely it will be "Hispanic". Visit the Courthouse in Indio any day of the week. Look @ the Cases being Tried. "Hispanic". Look who is the Majority of Prison and/or Jail Inmates. "Hispanic". If anyone wishes to dispute this Statement I welcome any corrections as long as you include your source of information.

Ron--I think you're the one who posted the 90% figure last week regarding another crime. I tried to find stats but was unsuccessful. However, I've been keeping track since then (and really before), and you're right on target, at least regarding the crime reports on the Patch. Also, look at which minority is being released from prison due to overcrowding. You guessed it. I'm by no means racist, but I can put 2 + 2 together and get 4.

Two things: Ron, you're. A bigot, racist who obviously doesn't have enough common sense to realize that caucadions are a minority! Its like saying..if you look at the crime rate in France, you will see 90% of the crime is perpetuated by the French! Just ignorrant. The second thing that is much more important: ladies or anyone...don't accept "help" from random people you don't know. Call a friend, family member, or triple A!

So am I to believe "Hispanics" comprise 90% of the Valley population by your statement? According to the recent U.S. Census that would be an incorrect number. Please check for yourself.

Ron, Hispanics make up the majority of ethnics in the valley. I don't need a census to confirm that. The census does not document or account for virtually all of the undocumented immigrants. Again, I look to my common sense. Caucasians are a minority no matter how you look at it. There are other ethnic groups who share this minority. So, if you think that the percentages are high for Hispanic crime, I would suspect that it is because the population percentages are also high for Hispanic residents....legally documented, natural born, and undocumented....staggering really!
