Police: Suspected DUI Driver Slams Into Palm Desert Median

No one was hurt when a car with a suspected drunken driver behind the wheel careened over the center median curb of a Palm Desert street, blowing out the tires of the sedan, which came to a rest on the other side, a sheriff's deputy said today.

Deputies dispatched at 6:22 p.m. Monday to Washington Street, north of Fred Waring Drive, learned the  Nissan Altima was headed north on Washington Street when it struck the curb and strayed into the southbound lanes, Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Armando Munoz said.

Jeanne Marie Harris, 58, of La Quinta, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, he said, but booking and bail information was not immediately available.
