Police: Woman Robbed on Palm Desert Street

Police were searching this weekend for a man who allegedly robbed a woman of her cell phone and some cash while she was getting into her parked car.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who is accused of holding a woman up in Palm Desert Friday afternoon.

Riverside Sheriff's Sergeant David Wright says the woman was targeted while getting into her parked car in the area of El Dorado Drive and Hovley Lane East at around 3:30 p.m.

"The suspect parked in the street next to her facing the opposite direction," Wright said.  "The suspect got out of the truck, told the victim that he was going to 'rob' her, and showed her a dark revolver that was sticking out of his left front pants pocket."

The man then apparently took the woman's cell phone-- and $20 that was in her car's cupholder, Wright said.  He then got back into his truck and took off northbound on El Dorado, towards Country Club Drive.

The following suspect description was provided:

  • Hispanic male adult
  • approximately 20-years-old
  • 5'-3" tall
  • stocky build
  • shaved head
  • brown eyes
  • wearing a black t-shirt and dark colored jeans
  • driving an older, full-size, unknown model, black primer-colored pick-up truck with "Paradise" paper plates

Police asked that if anyone have information about this crime, to contact the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station at (760) 836-1600.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
