Redlands Woman, 22, Injured in Yucaipa Head-On Crash, Dies at Loma Linda MC

The two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Street and Topaz Street, just east of Mill Creek Road, according to the coroner.

A Redlands woman was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night on Bryant Street just east of Mill Creek Road in Yucaipa, coroner's officials said.

Alora Leigh Salter, 22, was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, coroner's officials said.

Salter was driving a 1997 Honda Civic north on Bryant Street near Topaz Street, less than a mile from the Mill Creek Ranger Station, "when the Honda drifted into the southbound lane for an unknown reason," according to a coroner's statement.

"A southbound 2004 Toyota Avalon was unable to avoid a collision and struck the Honda head-on," the statement said. Salter "was extricated and transported to Loma Linda Univeristy Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 12:25 AM on 5/23/12."

A coroner's spokeswoman released Salter's name Wednesday afternoon in a phone interview.

The driver of the other vehicle, Jack Moser, 77, of Yucaipa, was also transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, sheriff's officials said in a statement. He was said to be in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The San Bernardino County sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team was assigned to the collision.
