UPDATED: Dehydrated, Injured Hiker Rescued from Remote Area West of Palm Springs

A helicopter and eight CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters were dispatched at 11:32 a.m. to the Cactus to Clouds Trail, according to a fire official.

A dehydrated, injured male hiker was successfully rescued Saturday from a remote area west of Palm Springs, according to a fire official.

A helicopter and eight CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters were dispatched at 11:32 a.m. to the Cactus to Clouds Trail, according to Mark Annas, a spokesman for the agency.

The male hiker was hoisted to the helicopter and flown to a hospital for treatment by 1:25 p.m., Annas said.

The hiker's injuries were described as moderate.

American Medical Response and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department cooperated in the rescue effort.
