San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy Charged In DUI

Barbara Jean Crozier, 47, allegedly crashed her vehicle into several parked cars and ran over a pedestrian's foot in an apartment complex parking lot.

A San Diego County Sheriff's Department detective was charged Tuesday with hit-and-run and DUI stemming from an Aug. 30 crash in Palm Desert.

Barbara Jean Crozier, 47, faces one count of injury hit-and-run and two counts of injury DUI -- all felonies -- and four misdemeanor counts of DUI and hit-and-run property damage.

The charges were filed by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, and Crozier is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Crozier was arrested following a crash into a water fountain at the Marrakesh Country Club, 47-000 Marrakesh Drive, about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Deputies investigating that crash matched the vehicle description and license plate number to a vehicle that had earlier in the evening careened through an apartment complex and clipped a number of vehicles, running over a woman's foot in the process, according to sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borja said.

According to sheriff's records, Crozier was released on bond for $50,000 bail the day of her arrest.

According to the San Diego County sheriff's personnel office, Crozier works in the Santee substation. Her current status with the department was not immediately known.
