San Diego Detective Gets 90 Days in DUI arrest

Barbara Crozier is sentenced to home detention and five years probation for DUI hit-and-run last August.

Barabara Crozier was sentenced today to 90 days monitored home detention and five years probation for her DUI hit-and-run in Palm Desert .

Riverside Superior Court Judge Harold W. Hopp handed down the sentence this afternoon.  The sentence also calls for fines and restituition, and for Crozier to enroll in a first time drunken driver program.

Judge Hopp struck down some recommendations from the 17-page Probation Department report due to Crozier's employment with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  Those terms had to do primarily with Crozier's job functions.

Prior to sentencing, Crozier was praised by Riverside County Prosecutor Gypsy Yeager for her service to law enforcement, and for her willingness to enroll in a treatment program following her arrest.

Judge Hopp also mentioned Crozier's status at a law enforcement officer as a reason to allow her to serve the typical 90-day  first DUI sentence at home as opposed to an overcrowded Riverside County facility, where in Hopp's words "she would serve nowhere close to 90 days."
