Search Continues For Cold Stone Robber

A gunman forced the employees of the store into a freezer before fleeing.

A gunman who forced the employees of a Cold Stone Creamery into a freezer before robbing the place was at large today, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The robbery was reported at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday at 36957 Cook St., according to Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which contracts with Palm Desert for its policing services.

A man, whose face was covered, entered the store about 6:15 p.m. and forced the employees into the store’s freezer, Valenzuela said.

The suspect took the employee’s personal property and an undisclosed amount of cash, she said.

About 15 minutes after the robbery, some customers arrived and found the employees in the freezer.
