Four Youths Detained in Pizza Hut Theft

The youngsters were taken into custody for questioning after deputies pulled over a Sun Bus in front of The River in Rancho Mirage, a sheriff's official said.

Several boys were detained today on suspicion of grabbing some quarters from a Pizza Hut in Palm Desert.

The theft was reported at 1:33 p.m. at the Pizza Hut on Highway 111 at Fred Waring Drive, according to Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Four youths suspected in the theft were found on a Sun Bus, which was pulled over a few miles down the road by sheriff's deputies in front of The River in Rancho Mirage, Valenzuela said.

The incident was initially report as a robbery, but was later downgraded to a theft, she said.

One of the boys detained had a scooter, and another was wearing a black back pack.
