Sheriff's Deputies Plan Extra DUI Patrols in Palm Desert, Surrounding Cities

The patrols will run through early Saturday morning.

Riverside County sheriff's deputies will conduct extra DUI patrols in Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells and Palm Desert, starting Friday night.

The patrols -- scheduled from 7 p.m. to Saturday at 3 a.m. -- are intended to stop impaired drivers, and will be held in areas with high instances of DUI crashes and/or arrests, according to sheriff's Sgt. Dave Adams.

He said six people have died in DUI-related crashes in those cities over the past three years.
