Some Residents Evacuated Due to Ruptured Natural Gas Line in Indio

Some residents were evacuated Monday afternoon due to a ruptured natural gas line in Indio, according to Cal Fire.

A gas leak was reported at 1:39 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 83600 block of Dr. Carreon Blvd., Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

"A few nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution as repairs are made by the Gas Company," Hagemann said in an update at 2:30 p.m. "Resources will be committed approximately 90 minutes."

Southern California Gas Company workers were making repairs to the ruptured natural gas line near Dr. Carreon Boulevard and Van Buren Boulevard, Hagemann said.

No injuries were reported. Info about the cause of the rupture was not released.
