Stranded Hiker Airlifted from Hills Above PD
Hiker stuck overnight is airlifted to safety.

A hiker has been airlifted out of the Palm Desert hills after being stranded overnight.
74-year-old John Kelley called for help about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying he was
stranded in the hills near Edgehill Road and Eagle Drive, above Cap Homme/Ralph Adams Park sheriff's Cpl. Angel Ramos said.

Desert Search and Rescue units determined that because of terrain and darkness,the rescue would have to be postponed until morning, and advised Kelley to seek shelter for the night.
"He was an expert hiker ... it was too late to rescue him (last night) so this morning with the use of a helicopter, he was airlifted out,'' Ramos said.

Kelley was rescued at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, and did not require medical treatment.
