A motorist was seriously injured in a collision with a street sweeper in Rancho Mirage Friday.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive about 6:15 a.m., Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
Firefighters freed a person from one of the vehicles and took him or her to a hospital with major injuries, she said. The sweeper driver had what Hendrickson called minor injuries.

Westbound Highway 111 was temporarily closed.
