Teen Arrested for Suspected DUI Following Palm Desert Crash

Officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to the area of Country Club Drive and Monterey Avenue just after 5 a.m. Friday on reports of a single-vehicle accident. 

The investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling west on Country Club Dr. approaching Monterey Ave. when the vehicle collided with the cement median. The driver had lost control while attempting to turn north onto Monterey Ave. 

The vehicle became disabled after striking the median. 

Neither the driver nor the passenger were injured in the collision.

According to police, Stephanie Plata, age 18 of Indio, was found to be under the influence of an intoxicant and was subsequently arrested. 

She was later released pending the results of toxicology tests.
