Teen Boy Among Murder Suspects in Indio Slaying

A 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were in custody Thursday as the latest suspects in the June killing of a man in a parked car in Indio.

Edgar Omar Machado and the boy were arrested separately Wednesday, Indio police Sgt. Dan Marshall said. Shawn Anthony Wynn, 21, of Palm Desert, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the killing and is expected in court Thursday afternoon.

A fourth person, Rick Steven Jaime, 22, also of Indio, is suspected of aiding and abetting in the killing.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, 20, of Indio, was found shot to death inside a parked Cadillac in Indio's Regency Park neighborhood at Lancer Gate and Merlin Drive around 10:30 p.m. June 16. Police have not released any details about a possible motive for the killing.

Machado and Jaime were both already in custody -- for probation and weapons violations -- at the time of their arrests, Marshall said.

All three adult suspects are being held at the county jail in Indio, Machado without bail and Wynn and Jaime in lieu of $1 million bail. The 16-year- old was booked at Juvenile Hall in Indio, and it was unknown if he'd be charged as an adult, Marshall said.

Police believe all the suspects in the case are in custody, but asked anyone with information to call (760) 391-4057 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
