Boy Run Over by Trailer at Palm Springs Softball Field

The accident occurred at Sunrise Park in Palm Springs, about 3:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.

An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition Monday following a Palm Springs accident in which he was run over by a trailer's tires as he hid in a game.

The Las Vegas boy was hurt at Sunrise Park, on Baristo Road, about 3:40 p.m., according to Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff.

A pickup truck attached to an empty utility trailer was parked on the softball field, while setup for an upcoming event was taking place, Kovaleff wrote in a news release.

The boy hid beneath the trailer as he played his game but when the driver returned and started the pickup, he was not aware the child was there.

The driver immediately stopped the vehicle; the boy was taken to a local hospital, Kovaleff reported.

Though police are still investigating the accident, the driver was not cited and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to play a factor.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
