A truck driver was critically injured in a big rig crash in Palm Desert Friday.
The single-vehicle crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. at Washington Street and westbound Interstate 10. The injured driver, the truck's only occupant, was taken to an area hospital, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle was a tractor- trailer and the westbound on-ramp at Washington was closed so the rig could be removed.
