Two Taken to Hospital after DUI Crash on Cook Street
Woman hits two trucks, then crashes into Jensen's on Cook Street
A 76-year-old woman suspected of being under the influence of alcohol ran a red light today and struck two pickup trucks before crashing her car into a Palm desert grocery store, a sheriff's sergeant said.
Judith Wasserman of Palm Desert was taken to a local hospital with non-
life-threatening injuries following the 10:40 a.m. crash, sheriff's Sgt. Radek
Horkel said.
Wasserman was northbound on Cook Street when she ran a red light at the
intersection of Green Way and her Chrysler Sebring struck a pickup truck whose
driver was making a left turn, Sgt. Horkel said.

The Sebring spun to the south, "drove over a raised curb, striking an
occupied pickup truck, and collided into an exterior wall of the Jensen's
market,'' Horkel said.
The male occupant of the parked truck was taken to a local hospital withnon-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup that was struck at the intersection was unhurt.

Horkel said the preliminary investigation revealed that alcohol was a
factor in the crash.
