Two Wounded in Shooting, One Arrested on Suspicion of Three Felonies
Two people were wounded in a shooting early Friday in La Quinta and a suspect was arrested on suspicion of three firearms felonies, a sheriff's sergeant said.
The shooting was reported at 2:37 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 53000 block of Avenida Herrera in La Quinta, Sgt. Steve DaSilva of the sheriff's Thermal Station said in a statement.
Deputies determined a suspect argued with two people and as they drove away the suspect shot at them, striking both, DaSilva said.
"The victims drove themselves to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries," DaSilva said.
The suspect, identified as Robert Garcia Santos, 24, of La Quinta, was located and arrested at 4:10 p.m. Friday, according to inmate records.
Santos was booked on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of discharging a firearm. He was held Saturday on $100,000 bail at Smith Correctional in Banning.
