Underage Palm Desert Man Accused of DUI in Local Crash

A 20-year-old Palm Desert man is accused of drinking and driving-- and then crashing-- in town, police said Thursday.

According to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Patrick Carroll, Christopher Salinas was arrested following the Wednesday night crash in the area of Washington Street and Country Club.

"The investigation revealed a Hyundai sedan backed into a Ford sedan causing minor damage to both vehicles," Carroll said.  "It was determined the driver of the Hyundai was under the influence of alcohol and no injuries were sustained by any of the parties involved."

Salinas was taken to the Indio jail, where he was booked on DUI charges.  He posted $2,500 bail Thursday, according to inmate records.
