UPDATE: Vehicle on Fire Reported in Crash on WB 10 Freeway

Update 6:10 p.m. A crash on Interstate 10 west of Haugen Lehman involved at least one patient with minor injuries, according to an update from the California Highway Patrol.

Update 5:50 p.m. 
A longhorn steer was walking on the side of Interstate 10 just west of a traffic crash involving a vehicle that caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was not clear if the longhorn was involved in the crash. The CHP reported its presence at 5:09 p.m. as an "animal hazard.

As of 5:40 p.m., "cow people" and "reservation patrol" were en route to deal with the longhorn, CHP personnel reported.

An update on the vehicle fire was not immediately available.

Posted 5:30 p.m. A vehicle on fire was reported in a crash Monday afternoon on westbound Interstate 10 west of Haugen Lehman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

As many as three vehicles were involved in the crash reported just before 5 p.m. Dec. 9, a CHP dispatcher said in a phone interview.

One vehicle was reported on fire at 4:57 p.m., according to the CHP. A vehicle stopped due to the crash was facing the wrong way on the freeway.

Emergency personnel were responding to the crash, the dispatcher said.
