Vehicle-to-Vehicle Shooting Prompts Temporary Lockdown at Indio High

Indio police arrested two people in a shooting Monday that triggered a precautionary lockdown at Indio High School and nearby teen and senior centers.

A least one person in a white Honda Civic fired at gray Toyota Sequoia near Palmwood and Pindo drives about 8:30 a.m. Dec. 16, and the two cars collided at Palmwood Drive and Clinton Street, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

No one was hurt in the shooting, Guitron said. The suspects fled in the white Honda.

A police search of the area, which included a precautionary lockdown at Indio High and nearby teen and senior centers, turned up two suspects and a gun, Guitron said.

"Two other suspects, who are possibly armed" were being sought, Guitron said.

The precautionary lockdown was changed to a "lock out" about 9:30 a.m.
and lifted about 11:30 a.m., according to Guitron.
