Woman Accused of DUI in Roll-Over Crash in Coachella

A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI in a roll-over crash Thursday night in Coachella, a sheriff's sergeant said Friday.

Deputies responded at 10:11 p.m. Dec. 5 to a reported collision involving two vehicles at Avenue 51 and Frederick Street, Coachella police Sgt. Jeronimo Contreras said in a statement.

"The investigation revealed a black Nissan was traveling eastbound on Avenue 51 when it collided with a silver Toyota Prius that was parked at the curb. The impact affected four parked vehicles," Contreras said.

The Nissan driver, identified as Jennie Martinez Rios, 41, of Coachella, was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired with alcohol, Contreras said.

"Rios was transported to a local hospital for precautionary medical treatment," Contreras said. She was booked early Friday at Indio Jail and released on $2,500 bail, according to inmate records. She has a court date in February.
