If you like the PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT, check out the money donated from
BRIDGE PAC , $5,000 TO rUIZ. What is up with all the union money and money from Washington , D.c. being donated to Ruiz. Think for yourself and investigate. I think we have had enough of the progressive movement. Back to the good old USA.

Karla, Karla, Karla: You told us last week that Congress was still in session. I think your credibility here is shot. Dr Ruiz is a man of science; he'll know what to do about The Salton Sea!
Karla Payne October 14, 2012 at 10:16 pm
Maybe you should learn to speak English before calling someone an "indiot." Good for you for spelling "disgrace" correctly. Other than that...hmmm.
Karla Payne October 14, 2012 at 10:20 pm
It would be interesting to find out how many congresspeople actually live in their districts, and for how much of the year. (None of them live in their districts full-time.) I tried googling to get some info in that, but I got nowhere.
Karla Payne October 14, 2012 at 10:39 pm
John, John, John, A man of science? He can "fix" the Salton Sea, all by himself. Let's see him get his shovel ready and start fixing it. LOL. Ruiz offered no solutions, just accusations.
I was married to a General Surgeon--I put him thru USC medical school, and he wasn't a product of affirmative action. (He was also accepted at Harvard, but he chose to stay in So. CA because there were no teaching jobs for me in Boston.) My ex, a man of science? No, just a brilliant man who excelled in his profession. He didn't quit his lucrative profession to become a politician. He retired because he was a man of great vision.

Mary Bono Mack came across as an angry and mean-spirited person. She should be ashamed of her self for denying another person their constituional right of free speech as well as the right of peaceful protest. NEITHER candidate addressed sufficiently the issues of the campaign, as they were too busy attacking each other. In my opinion, Mary Bono Mack is the poster child for term limits, let's say 3 2-year terms might be sufficient for congressmen. In general, the "debate" was out of control.

Memo to Raul Ruiz - poorly prepared and badly executed Pelosi talking points does not a congressman make. And as for broken promises...after begging local businesses to pay your way to college by promising to return to the Coachella Valley as a medical doctor, aren't you breaking your promises? Pelosi and Soros are financing 6 Ca. democratic congressional campaigns in order to win back the Speaker of the House title. They care only for power. Ruiz, you're a naive pawn in a game you don't even understand.
Voting for Mary. Although she did badly in the debate, she is a committed representative of this area and has done well for us. Do your own research. Elizabeth Moritz, Palm Desert

MBM spends a great deal of time in Florida, stumping for her husband, Connie Mack, as he is running there. MBM has always "expected" our vote, has never once held a true "town hall" meeting to request our views. The only two debates she would allow were those of emerging politicians, as she knows they aren't as programmed as she is yet. Yes, she came accross as a screaming fishwife during the debate, but perhaps she should be excused for her intolerable behavior, she had nothing else to say, no achievements to stand on, no jobs bills, etc. When people are scared, it manifests itself as anger. Boy was she A N G R Y! Stevie Weinberg

Yes, many things have changed in this country with the right to free speech and peaceful assembly. History has shown that if it was not for those who were brave enough to stand up and demand change...things would never change.
Robert October 15, 2012 at 05:23 pm
I asked Mary Bono Mack and simple question and she has never given me an answer...
I asked her to be honest and let everyone know exactly how many days she has spent in her congressional area. She has ignored the question because she was only in the desert for the debate. The news even called it "a special visit" She does not live in California and should run for office in Florida.
Robert October 15, 2012 at 05:38 pm
Deborah, are you serious...Havard does not accept idiots. Did you go to Havard?
& Karla, would you make the same stupid comment about someone's pronouciation if they were European.
Robert October 15, 2012 at 05:54 pm
Well, Karla...I hope you never make a typo or someone might tell you to learn to write first.
You are a bigot.
Barbara Powers October 15, 2012 at 06:23 pm
In checking out more contributions to Ruiz, how about PAC FOR CHANGE...
$5000. from Barbara Boxer's web site.........really........
Barbara Powers October 15, 2012 at 06:29 pm
More contributions from Nancy Pelosi via PAC TO THE FUTURE, to Ruiz in the
amount of $5,000. Keep checking where the money is coming from...
Karla Payne October 15, 2012 at 06:57 pm
To those who still have an open mind about whom you're voting for, take a look at mydesert.com (online version of the Desert Sun.) It was in my inbox today, although it might have been written yesterday. (You can read a certain # of articles for free if you're not a subscriber.) 5 questions were asked of the 2 candidates. Mary answered the questions very well and did not mention the arrest of Ruiz. She didn't come across as angry or hostile. Ruiz, on the other hand, answered with attacks against Bono-Mack and repeated the same-ol'-same-ol' democrat talking points which are being fed to him, line-by-line. He also talked about the shortage of M.D.s here. Why do you think that is? It's because of ObamaCare. Physicians are leaving their profession in droves! (30% nationwide is what I read today.) Ruiz is leaving his profession to become a politician. Why? Because being a legislator is far more lucrative than being an ER doc (est. salary about $50,000 per year.) We don't need a new medical school here in Riverside County, yet he claims responsibility for our getting one. Our limited dollars could be better spent elsewhere.
My vote goes to Mary, although I'll concede that I didn't like her angry tone in the debate. I disliked Ruiz' canned answers even more. He memorized ideology but didn't articulate them very well. Grammar, syntax, and pronunciation errors indicate to me that he's not qualified. Can you imagine him on the floor of the House? I'd crawl under the nearest table.
Karla Payne October 15, 2012 at 07:03 pm
Barbara, what's the tally now? First, it was $285,000 from the Pelosi camp. How much more has been thrown to Ruiz' campaign? I could look it up, but you seem to have the facts. Thanks!
WILLIAM JAYMES October 15, 2012 at 08:43 pm
And I suppose Boehner, the Replican Pacs and other Republicans have not given money to Bono's campaign. Really you ladies should explore Bono's War on Women in voting against legislation intended to enhance a victim of gender bias in the work place. Why don't you "look it up" and respond.
Elizabeth Moritz October 16, 2012 at 10:55 am
One cannot slam any member of congress on their voting record without understanding the convoluted way in which bills work their way through congress. Had the younger generation had some schooling in civics, you'd understand that. Why a legislator does or does not vote for a bill, has very little to do with the actual intent of the bill, and much more to do with what is "tagged" onto the bill in the give and take of "some for you and some for me." If you want to understand Congress read Bob Woodard's latest book, http://www.amazon.com/dp/1451651104 The Price of Politics. It's a slog but we really ought to put a bit of effort into understanding how/why our government ISN'T WORKING before we start attacking people. BTW, MBM has no war on women. That bill was a sham from the start and she called it out for what it was. She actually does stand up, but it's hard to see it from the outside looking in.

WILLIAM JAYMES October 16, 2012 at 12:44 pm
What a bunch of pufferey you are giving out Elizabeth. Mary Bono Mack voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act, both of which were intended to help women hold employers accountable for gender bias in the workplace. She also sponsored a version of the Violance against Women Act by backing a version of the Act which could violate the confidentialty of the victim and sponsored the Respect for Rights Conscious Act that eliminated the requirement in Obamacare Law requiring Employers Health plans to cover birth control. Elizabeth you can BS everything but all Bono did was to vote as she was told to do by Boehner , in the Republicans opposition of all things Obama. What a waste of out representation.
Barbara Powers October 16, 2012 at 01:31 pm
Tues , in today's Desert Sun, the amounts reported on both sides of the isle are
reported. Do you own investigation as to what groups support Ruiz.
Barbara Powers October 16, 2012 at 01:38 pm
William Jaymes, perhaps Mary voted the way she did because we don't need
any more laws for women. I always found that "Gender in the work place" was not a problem. If you did the same work you got the same pay. We don't need the goverment telling us what to do about birth control. Any woman can get it for under $10.00. Keep the government out of family decisions. THAT IS WHY MARY VOTED THE WAY SHE DID.
WILLIAM JAYMES October 16, 2012 at 06:40 pm
"perhaps" "THAT IS WHY MARY VOTED THE WAY SHE DID", "Gender in the work place was not a problem". Barbara are you a ringer? Do you work for Bono or the Republican party? Are you speaking for Bono or are you just speculating why she voted against legislation for women. I think many, many women would disagree with you and those women should have an easier time in pursuing discrimination in the work place.
Karla Payne October 16, 2012 at 06:50 pm
Robert, I'm sure I've made typos, but they are "typos," not misspellings. How does that make me a bigot? You don't need to answer, as you're just an angry man with your own agenda which is opposite of mine.
Barbara Powers October 16, 2012 at 07:49 pm
Dear William, not a ringer, don't work for Mary. Been here since 1984.
I had no problem working with men and actually made more than some of them in the same position. I just care about our Country and don't like the Progressive Movement and what it will do to my children, grand children and our Country's Future. .I think you know me if you are an attorney and had a partner. . Mary has helped me and many of my friends with problems. The same problems were put to Barbara Boxer over the years and none of us ever even got a response. We need smaller government, No Obama Care, No more regulations on business or the environment. There are a lot of us that care but just don't want to put their names out there. That is why I am answering you and all the rest of the Liberals that post here.
WILLIAM JAYMES October 16, 2012 at 08:20 pm
"Liberals". Progressive Movement. Boy you, Romney, and Bono like to categorize people and beliefs. Do you work for Patch? Are you a Bono volunteer? YOU ARE THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO WANTS TO MAKE EVERYBODY THE SAME AS THEMSELVES. I can be a liberal and care for my country. You on the otherhand are biggoted against anyone who is not like you. No more regulations on business. How about the problems that Bush created in the mortgage and financial industries by not watching the shop. No Obamacare- does your candidate have any alternative to offer other that a voucher system that will drain money from seniors. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT ROMNEY AND BONO CARE ABOUT YOU. They are the 1%'rs. All they care about is themselves and their cronies. YOU probably are a tea partyier who gave us the likes of Walsh, Murdock, West. You really succeded in screwing up this country.
Barbara Powers October 16, 2012 at 08:42 pm
Not biggoted. Why do we have to be 1% why not 100% ALL UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA CITIZENS. Not a Tea Party member, nor do I work for PD Patch. I remember when people cared about each other. I am an independant thinker who hates to see this country going in the wrong direction. .Not a volunteer for Mary. If you are a member of the human race you should be able to live the American Dream ...and that includes all the children brought to US by their parents. Need some path to get there. Democrats and Republicans need to work together to solve problems. I've been a Democrat , Republican and now an Independant. They all need to follow the Constituion and not Executive Orders . Drain money from seniors? what about all the taxes in the Obama Care Bill. The people didn't want the bill and oh yeh. " Got to read the bill to find out what is in it." What kind of democratic process was that.
WILLIAM JAYMES October 17, 2012 at 04:57 pm
Elizabeth - trying to give me a lecture. You fail to acknowledge certain Bono issues and her War against Women. Bono established a Republican Women's Policy Committee whose motto is "Working For You". Of the 15 "members" in the committed at the time it came up for a vote all 15 voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Act. With regard to the Violence against Women Act - 22 of the then 24 members voted against the act. So Please do not lecture me. You are oblivious to how or why she voted against those Acts. Personally, I think she was told to vote against them by Boerher and other Republican cohorts. What a waste of our representation.
WILLIAM JAYMES October 17, 2012 at 05:03 pm
You are delusional. You pick and chose what to support and ignore how Mary Bono has voted. I assume you are for Romney whose health care plan for uninsured is that they should go to the emergency room. His plan for educational assistance is that they should borrow the money from their parents. He claims he will reduce the tax rates for all but what good does that do if he eliminates the mortgage deduction and healthcare deductions.

I was a teacher for 30 years. There was not ONEschool year when I didn't personally pay for schoolRead More supplies for my students ($500-$1,500 a yr)

@B.K.-- Thank you for your help with the community :) I have a great respect for all teachers!

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.
