Attendance Strong At Aquatic Center's Opening Day

But the YMCA, which runs the community pool, has not provided any other data on how many people are using the new facility.

More than 2,000 people attended the grand opening of the $7.7 million Palm Desert Aquatic Center a week ago.

The facility boasts a competition, recreation and splash pool, as well as a slide, diving boards and a concession stand.

So far, attendance has been strong, according to city spokesman David Hermann.
