Benjamini of Bermuda Dunes Appointed to County Superior Court Judgeship

An assistant public defender from Bermuda Dunes has been appointed to a Riverside County Superior Court judgeship, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.'s staff announced Friday.

Dean Benjamini, 47, of Bermuda Dunes, has been assistant public defender with Riverside County Law Offices of Public Defender since earlier this year, according to the governor's staff.

He was a partner at Benjamini & Benjamini APC from 2005 to 2013. Benjamini also served as a deputy public defender from 1994 to 2005.

Benjamini earned a Juris Doctor degree from University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Sacramento, according to the governor's staff.

"He fills a vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on January 23, 2013," Brown's staff said. "Benjamini is a Democrat."

Compensation for Benjamini's appointed position is $181,292.
